<p>Two new names were revealed in today's Empire article. Valor Omega and November Ajax. Valor Omega is confirmed to be the heavily armored jaeger with high shoulders. November Ajax is most likely the orange one behind Amara during the shatterdome attack.

MOD NOTE - Highlights from the article:
</p>
- Steven S. DeKnight was hired as director to make <i>Pacific Rim</i> "more relateable" and "aspirational" (inspiration, I think they meant?) for general audiences with <i>Pacific Rim: Uprising</i>.
- The script for <i>Uprising</i> was written in three weeks.
- The script originally focused on Raleigh Becket, but, because of Charlie Hunnam's other film commitments, DeKnight decided to go with an idea about "The Son of Stacker Pentecost" (Jake) instead.
- DeKnight wanted Jake Pentecost to be "more normal" and "less heroic" in comparison Stacker Pentecost, a heroic father he had to "live up to".
- The backbone of Jake Pentecost's story is that Stacker Pentecost never bothered to establish a relationship with him.
- Steven S. DeKnight jokingly believes that "Stacker" is not Pentecost Sr.'s true name and suggests "Jerry" might be his real name (the author of the article runs with it).
- John Boyega was always considered for the role of Jake Pentecost.
- Steven S. DeKnight allowed John Boyega to rewrite his own dialog.
- John Boyega believes Jake Pentecost is from South London.
- John Boyega believes Stacker Pentecost "was a bit of an arsehole" in <i>Pacific Rim</i>.
- The two new Jaeger names mentioned are: November Ajax and Valor Omega.
- The writers went through several names for their Jaeger designs. One of them, "Battle Witch" was considered before it was ultimately rejected.
- The Production explanation for the new Jaeger designs in <i>Uprising</i> is based on claims that the original Jaegers from <i>Pacific Rim</i> were difficult to tell apart, particularly during combat sequences with the Kaiju.
- According to Boyter (a producer for the film), the action sequences in <i>Pacific Rim</i> between the Conn-Pod (live action) and the Jaegers (CGI) felt "detached", so the idea of using holograms in the Conn-Pod were implemented during action sequences.
- John Boyega hired Liang Yang, who worked on <i>The Force Awakens</i> and <i>Rogue One</i>, to work on less choreographed action sequences in the Jaeger scenes.
- Guillermo del Toro suggested a scene with Gipsy Avenger throwing the bullet train at a Kaiju.
- Jaeger weapons and power moves were modeled after video game fighting moves. DeKnight describes it as the Jaeger pilots pressing the "Y" button on a controller to activate a finishing move.
- Amara Namani was created by DeKnight because he felt <i>Pacific Rim</i> had no characters for kids to relate to, and wanted to make the movie more accessible for general audiences.
- Peter Chiang, one of the visual effects supervisors, believed the cinematography (or rather, the color grading) in <i>Pacific Rim</i> was "bland" because the action sequences were shot at night. He states that all of the action sequences taking place during the day in <i>Uprising</i> allows the film to be "more colorful" and allows them to "play up the textures".
- DeKnight assumes that Gipsy Danger destroying the Breach, or the intention of the nuclear bomb in <i>Pacific Rim</i> was meant to destroy the Anteverse and not simply close the portal (like most people did when they initially watched the film).
- Working from that idea, he decided to bring the Kaiju back on the basis of answering the question of what the Precursors were trying to do in the original film (colonize the Earth).
- The name of the central location in the film (presumably where all the action takes place) is called MegaTokyo.
- DeKnight states that he "increased the I.Q of the Kaiju" in <i>Uprising</i>. They'll call for help (like they did in the original film), and communicate with each other (like they did in the original film) during combat sequences.
- John Boyega states that the Kaiju will "know what they're doing" when they attack cities in <i>Uprising</i>.
- DeKnight wants to expand the "Pacific Rim Universe" into what was the original Star Wars Expanded Universe, or the messy <i>Star Trek</i> expanded universe (where timelines don't make sense).
- They make reference to possibility of adding <i>Pacific Rim</i> to Universal Pictures "Monster Universe", with Godzilla 2014 and <i>Skull Island</i> King Kong, for a crossover event.
