Gipsy Danger vs Knifehead - alternative outcome

Just a fan theory.

If Gipsy had killed Knifehead without issue, i.e. Yancy survives and neither the conn-pod nor left arm are severly damaged, do you think the Mark III restoration programme would have still upgraded Gipsy's systems and added the GD6 Chainswords?

Also, would Gipsy have been the Jaeger to hold the Miracle Mile during the Hong Kong incident? Crimson probably would have died anyway but due to the Becket Brothers' kind of reckless and impulsive attitude, maybe they would have got to Otachi and Cherno quick enough to save the Russians?

Then Operation Pitfall would have been a 3 v 3 fight!

Hong Kong Depiction

Don't get me wrong, I really enjoyed Pacific Rim. But I find it equal parts perplexing and amusing when cities such as Hong Kong are made more 'stereotypically Asian' for, I would asume, Western audiences. I'd like to think the idea of all cities homogenizing (as they are doing today) is not such an unbelievable concept. Surely Western audiences wouldn't need such a visual confirmation to reaffirm the settings? I mean, for crying out loud - apparently, sometime in the next 10 years we (Yes, I live in Hong Kong!) decided to regress 70 years or so, whilst keeping our modern skyscrapers. And so motorized rickshaws, red paper lanterns, and the bamboo sliding doors are back in. It didn't really detract from the movie, but it did make me giggle when they showed the scenes of Hong Kong's streets, as Newton tried to find the black market dealer :)
