A giant monster is attacking a city and they decide to use a smaller yield nuke just so they can preserve the skeleton and organs? No.

<p>A pointless fight, Kaiju don't fight each over. (Reaper has been over this thousands of times) Also every Kaiju no matter it's strength or toxicity still poses a threat.

<p>My favourite is Trespasser because I love it's design and the golden gate bridge sequence was one of my favourite scenes in Pacific rim.
</p><p>The other Kaiju I like are Scunner and Knifehead because they share the same basic features of Trespasser.
</p><p>Honourable mention is Otachi because she is a pretty cool Kaiju.

<p>Maybe the first nuke used was slightly weaker than the other two nukes, they would want to save as many civilians as possible.

Maybe they considered the possibility of their Kaiju failing due to earth's defenses being too much.
