No, as its like walking off a gut punch, its still there and the producers felt it hard. the black gave it a small chance to come back BUTT if they keep going with the black formula of how jeagers are portrayed then honestly it wont be pacific rim anymore. cause pacific rim was diffrent for its realism and how problematic the mech fighting trope is. and lets face it, atlas destroyer has more plot armor then any isekai protagonist. it took so much punisment with inexperienced fighters when trained pilots can only afford one of those kinda blows, ever

Its "cannon". nothing has been made to retcon the events of uprising (sadly) but thats mainly cause it killed the franchises chances to make another film (also the book thats going off of uprising)

Oh but i can, using your enviroment is often an advantage, BUTT! *insert fart noise here* it certainly isnt smart to grab a car and hold it in your hand to "increase" the power of your punch, as a jeagers hand is more dense and in fact WILL CUSHION the impact. just throw it. projectile combat is op. we need jeagers with better guns

Like that beyond stupid in context of the stealth aspect, when you throw it your just giving your position away and also creating a easy counter option for the kaiju...

Gypsys pilots were good with sword esque weapons, but nobody can convince me that using a boat is not completly rad compared to a sword. the boat was a horribe weapon but damn it was cool.

But then at that point just give striker some more anti kaiju missles... like the sting blades do exactly what you want from a melee weapon for kaiju, the range is exactly what you need. the swords athena uses are just how to fight as a jeager wrong... throwing your weapon is textbook "what you dont want to do." javelins would also be way to unweildy in many settings and very heavy at that scale, not to mention the force and cordination of pilots to be accurate.

Invis doesent sound bad though...

Also look at the weapons in uprising, the whips were just a way to immobilize yourself and athenas swords were way to flimsy and could be disarmed very easily (another problem with saber athena being way to fragile). you need to be able to keep your advantages, the whips were arguably worse than nothing and dont even get me started on the morning star (even thought it was intigrated oml it sucked)

Kaiju are in your face type of opponents, and they have a whole goodie bag of tricks they pull out of nowhere (such as otachi) even the most busted weapons like the chainswords haves to many disadvantages such as their limited range, easy counterplay and the possibility of a weapon getting stuck in the kaiju (why do you think mako didnt use it in the city), large weapons easily give the kaiju a strong counter option that will just kill a jeager. ethier way the fists of jeagers are a much better option its like punching with the power of a hydraulic press, they easily make a whole kaijus body shake in recoil without the blindspot problem or the possiblity of getting itself stuck. in a blitz game where whoever is faster wins, having a sluggish weapon that can be countered easily when your mech could carry somthing way better like a plasmacaster or just friggin missles is why those type of weapons are redundant (the morning star was byfar the most usless weapon ever btw). why do you think striker eureka saw so much success in its fighting style, its weapons were light and fast, perfect for keeping the heat up and making sure that the kaiju dosent get the upper hand or even a chance to fight back. cherno and typhoon also follow this trend of speed over big hulking blows, because these kaiju are fast, they will just dodge or block. cherno was the slowest jeager in the battle of hong kong, and he got blitzed to death in mere seconds, even though he could dish out arguably the strongest hits, it dosent matter if you dont get a hit off.

Also why have a fase one while you could be the strongest you could be all the time, jeagers arnet tanky at all, it took one blow to kill typhoon and og gypsy. when your defending humanity you need your a game 100% of the time.

Btw a sythe is a horrible melee weapon, the blade is way to restricting to be effective, it only works at a really finited sweetspot range, and more often than not you would just hit the bloke with a glorified stick. and if it does hit more often than it will get stuck, and thats bad for a whole other number of reasons.

I could write a 10 paragraph essay on why the jeagers fists are just a better weapon

Weight adjustment, adaptability and money

Non attached weaponry had a lot of extra factor that integrated weaponry dosent have, one thing is weight, as carrying somthing like that puts a lot of strain on the jeager, not to mention somthing of that size is clunky and if a kaiju can easily counter a style of combat, this is why pilots have to think on their feet, so on on and so forth. but integrated weaponry also makes enegy consumption more reliable as the jeager will always be carrying the same amount of weight and will only have to ajust power output for where it matter, fighting. also it looks less cool.

Copyright and cause there was no mega kaiju, the biggest guy we saw was slattern.

I really wished they showed off the incinerator turbines in the film, it looked really cool
