I imagined that this is a combination of Shrikethorn's plasma and spikes, Hakuja's javelin-like tail mentioned on the official promotional card in China, and maybe Raijin's electricity/plasma productions again on Chinese promotional card. </p> <figure class="article-thumb tright show-info-icon" style="width: 180px"> <figcaption> </figcaption></figure><p>Second, the shockwave attack, it is notable that Mega-Kaiju used this ability twice in the film. While the feature film sequel Pacific Rim Uprising didn’t succeed in this cause, perhaps the franchise’s future is in theme parks. <p>A Pacific Rim theme park ride is being developed as the star attraction at the upcoming Trans Studio Cibubur theme park near Indonesia’s capital city of Jakarta. Touted as the “next generation dark ride experience,” Pacific Rim: Shatterdome Strike will pit Jaegers against Kaiju in a ride designed and built by Legacy Entertainmen and Lay-Carnagey Entertainment. </p><p>Trans Studio officials unveiled details of the Pacific Rim theme park ride that will be the star attraction of its theme park opening this year. According to InPark Magazine, the ride, titled Pacific Rim: Shatterdome Strike, is a nearly 20-minute immersive experience that takes place in four distinct parts and “puts guests face to face with three new deadly KAIJUS making their debut within the ride, each with unique powers and abilities.” Shatterdome Strike is being touted as “The World’s First Immersive Theater Dark Ride,” and looks like it will involve both 3D film effects as well as practical effects and animatronics, judging by the concept art above. </p><p>The experience first takes riders through a launch ceremony for the Pan Pacific Defense Corp’s first MARK VII JAEGER, called the STORM GARUDA. Guests can then pilot the “most advanced mobile weapon in the PPDC’s fleet thanks to the imaginative combination of 3D film sequences, practical effects, and state of the art ride vehicle technology.” And prepare for a surprise twist midway through the ride portion. <p>Correct me if im Wrong but in Uprising they work out that all the Kaiju from the first film were trying to get to mount Fuji.  </p><p>The Trench location and Mount Fuji are not far from each other. So the Kaiju could have gone straight to Fuji with out need to go to Australia, Hong Kong or America. <p>So, the Diamond Select toys Valor Omega, November Ajax, and Kaiju Drone figures just arrived at my house, and there's a ton of new information in the description for Valor Omega (descriptions for November and the Kaiju Drone was just stuff we already knew). I don't know if any of this is canon, but it's really interesting, so I thought I'd share it. </p><p>"Valor Omega proudly wears the distinction of courage and bravery in her name like a badge of honor. She's equipped with dual-wielding cannons that erupt a mammoth barrage of shells, the equivalent of a 21-cannon firing line. As the guns are attached to her forearms, her dual salvos are lovingly referred to as a '21-gun salute.'" </p><p>This first paragraph is pretty cool, but the really interesting stuff comes in the second paragraph. If this is canon, I'm kind of annoyed none of this got mentioned in the movie at all. </p><p>"When disaster strikes, Valor Omega strikes back as a mobile emergency evacuation response unit. Capable of entering dangerous or uninhabitable environments, she can hold a capacity of up to 150 people in her torso, and is fully-equipped with basic emergency medical and food supplies. She also has an advanced water desalination and filtration system in her legs to channel high-volumes of sea water into safe drinking water for entire communities in need." </p><p>Again, no idea if this is canon, and it probably isn't since none of this is mentioned in the movie or the art book. Maybe we'll get confirmation at some point, but for now these are just some really cool details I would've liked to see at least referenced in the movie. </p>

<p>So the Kaiju Cat system still works the same way (thankfully), but what's going on with Saber Athena? Saber's a Mark VII, yet she was launched before Gipsy Avenger, which is a Mark VI. The Pacific Rim Wiki says that the Mark system is based on launch schedule, and this appears to be consistent with when all Jaegers are launched. There's less than a month's difference between the launch dates of these two, Saber being in Dec 2033 and Gipsy in Jan 2034, but this would either make Gipsy a Mark VII or Saber a Mark VI, so what's going on? We know for sure that Gipsy is a Mark VI, and Saber is a Mark VII, but this goes against the whole "Mark" categorisation.  </p>
