Acid Geisha is the name of a scrapped Jaeger from the Pacific Rim draft script.[1]
Development
Overview
Acid Geisha is the name of an omitted Jaeger featured in the draft script of Pacific Rim. Neither the Jaeger or the Kaiju it fights prior to the events of the script's story are ever described in any detail by Travis Beacham.[1] The name "Acid Geisha" was criticized for playing into the media sexualized misconceptions about the role of Geishas in Japan's society as entertainers.[2][3]
Role
Acid Geisha establishes Mako Mori's career as a pilot in original story for Pacific Rim. Mako Mori and an omitted character named Aki Seto were the pilots of Acid Geisha. The Jaeger fought against an unnamed Kaiju and was destroyed in the process of killing the creature, claiming the life of the Aki Seto character after Mako was ejected from the mech.[1]
