By the year 2016, technological advancements in artificial limbs have reached a point where cybernetic limbs are no longer a potential, but a reality.
In at least one instance, Mark-1 pilot, Duc Jessop, used a cybernetic limb with a special synthetic skin called "synthax skin" that could mimic the function of living tissue.[1] Additionally, when required, the cybernetic limb in question could be upgraded.[2]
