Bogan was a roaming group of caravans and motorcycle riders under the control of Shane featured in Pacific Rim: The Black.[1]
History[]
Bogan[]
Shane proceeds with a trade deal with Ferno's men, trading off four Kaiju eggs for two Jaeger power cells. In the process of this, Shane's mercenaries, and the trading party engage in a shootoff, killing multiple mercenaries and all but Ferno's "bootlicker", Demarcus, of the traders. Shane then destroys the Kaiju eggs and takes both power cells.[2] In the meanwhile, Taylor, Hayley, and the Boy attempt to flee, but are caught by Rickter. After wounding him, they attempt to leave the camp, but Rickter manages to stop them in time, and take them back to Shane.[1]
Later, Shane uses his personal drift tech to scour through Taylor's memories in hopes of discovering his hidden agenda. Shane discovers Atlas Destroyer and its location as Taylor is left sitting idle trapped in the drift.
Up and Running[]
Bogan moves to where Taylor and Hayley had left Atlas Destroyer, and Shane hopes that he can re-activate the Jaeger. Using Joel Wyrick's engineering skills, Shane is able to power up the Jaeger, but is still left without a co-pilot for Joel. After drifting with several mercenaries, Joel's neural capacity becomes too stressed with the added effects of alcohol for him to pilot.[3]

Taylor and Hayley Travis sitting in Bogan whilst in Meridian City.
During Joel's final drift, alarms were set off from the Jaeger, attracting Copperhead to the location. With a Kaiju now inbound, Mei is forced to pilot, but still without a co-pilot, Hayley offers to drift. Mei declines and gets someone with actual drift training, Taylor, to drift, despite being in a slightly stressed mental state. As Mei and Taylor pilot Atlas Destroyer to safety, Shane orders Bogan to leave and meet Atlas at the old coal burner.[2]
Escaping Bogan and its destruction[]
Meeting at the next, and last, setup campsite for Bogan, Mei and Taylor bring back Atlas Destroyer, now only one-armed. Furious, Shane hesitates to kill Taylor, Hayley and the Boy, but Mei talks him down, and the three are instead exiled. Shane then goes against his promise and orders Rickter to go and kill the three kids. Shane fails to kill them, and with Taylor gaining the upper hand, Mei meets him and talks him down, and then apparently kills Rickter. Shane finally has control over the now one-armed Jaeger, Atlas Destroyer. Using Joel yet again, Shane attempts to fix the Jaeger and get it walking out of the camp by the end of the day. Due to his previous experiences with drifting, Joel finds himself unable to remember his mechanical skills and often finds lapses in his memory. Due to this, Mei sneaks Taylor back into the camp to assist Joel with the repairs, and Taylor reactivates Loa, Atlas Destroyer's A.I. Mei distracts Shane, whilst Joel convinces Taylor to ghost drift with the memory of Ranger Herc Hansen during his final mission. Taylor successfully pilots Atlas Destroyer solo, and destroys the campsite of Bogan.[1] Hayley and the Boy are rescued, and Hayley steps in as Taylor's co-pilot. In an attempt to kill Shane, Atlas raises its foot, but Mei stands in the way of Shane. Taylor offers for Mei to come with them, and she obliges. Once onboard the Jaeger, she switches piloting for Taylor, and he is given a reprieve. Shane is left in the burning ruins of Bogan.[1]
Rebuilding[]
Following Atlas Destroyer's departure, Shane has his people work on cleaning up and rebuilding Bogan. Shane and Spyder depart in the Scout Tank to find the Jaeger with Shane promising that once a wounded but still alive Rickter recovers, he will be banished from Bogan.[4]
A few days later, Apex passes by Bogan on its way to help the Kaiju Boy. Taking command, Rickter attempts to keep the residents from attacking Apex, knowing that the Hybrid is more trouble than they want to deal with, but a nervous guard fires anyways, causing Apex to attack them. Finally, Apex breaks off after it senses Boy in danger. When the same guard tries to attack again, Rickter kills her, stating that Shane may be gone, but there is still someone in charge.[5]
