Shane: "Well done, Mei. We got ourselves a Jaeger."
"Bogan" is the third episode of Pacific Rim: The Black, and the third episode in the series overall. It debuted on Netflix March 4, 2021.[1]
Plot[]
After Taylor spots a group of other humans, he and Hayley end up being taken to a community of mercenaries. The mercenaries hunt Kaiju eggs and trade them for Jaeger parts. However, not everything is as it appears in Bogan.[2]
Summary[]
Taylor notices people traveling in vehicles and asks Hayley to help him check them out. Unfortunately, they have to take the small mute boy they found in the lab underground with them. Taylor decides to call him "Boy" and they find the group of people taking Kaiju eggs. The boy runs out and gets the attention of the Kaiju Eel, causing it to attack everyone there. Mei and Rickter are barely able to kill it after shooting an RPG down its throat.[2]
Rickter wants to punish Taylor for what happened, but Mei stops him. She decides to take them with Rickter in their vehicle back to their community. They arrive in the community town of Bogan, and moments later, Ferno's men arrive to trade Jaeger parts for the Kaiju eggs. However, the deal goes sideways over the number of eggs and nearly all of Ferno's men are slaughtered.[2]
This tension displeases the Bogan leader, Shane, who interrogates Taylor about the truth of their story. He breaks him and can literally walk through the events of his mind using the neural drift. Shane finds out about the siblings' Jaeger, Atlas Destroyer and tells Mei he plans on taking it from where it lies in Meridian City.[2]
