Fulcrum is the name of an unused Kaiju concept from the Pacific Rim draft script.[1]
Biology[]
Fulcrum's body is a collection of barbed tentacles that stem from around its jaws, and "trail from his taloned arms". A scourge of tails whips the air behind him. Fulcrum is "a third bigger" than a Jaeger, has multiple tails that move like whips, and resembles a dinosaur with a bioluminescent glow. Parasites (called "Berserkers") that "bloat and burst" crawl on its skin.[1]
Development[]
Fulcrum is one of three Category V Kaiju present in the original script. Its presence is foreshadowed with the arrival of Komodo, who attacks Tacit Ronin prior. When Komodo is killed, Fulcrum emerges from the water and attacks Tacit Ronin with its tails. While the Jaeger is able to dodge it, Fulcrum uses the barbs on its tentacles to damage its armor.[1]
Fulcrum is able to use parasites that damage Tacit Ronin's armor and disables its mobility. Fulcrum ties Tacit Ronin down with its tentacles and tries to rip it apart. When Fulcrum victory seems certain Gipsy Danger arrives to fight it. Fulcrum's tentacles are cut off by Gipsy Danger's Chain Sword and the Kaiju itself is beheaded.[1]
