Hammerjaw is a Category I Kaiju that attacked Vancouver on March 13, 2018.

Biology

Hammerjaw is a quadrupedal Kaiju with smooth, gray skin. Its face has two eyes on each side and its most prominent feature is its set of three cartilaginous jaws, with the lateral ones having an orange hue and each having two nostrils.

Like most Kaiju, Hammerjaw has shown itself to be extremely aggressive towards the city's infrastructure, using its jaws to attack buildings on sight and advancing at high speed towards its opponents, using attacks such as lunges and headbutts.

History

The Battle of the Yukon

Hammerjaw approaches the shore of Vancouver without being intercepted, emerging from the shallows and advancing towards the metropolis, destroying the first building in front of it with its triple jaws. The rampage lasted until The Prototype appeared being carried by helicopters on the horizon, being released half a mile away into the city and immediately drawing the attention of the Kaiju.

The Kaiju and Mark-1 stared at each other in silence until Hammerjaw lowered its head and advanced at high speed towards the Jaeger, who braced itself for the impact and managed to withstand the devastating shock caused by the collision, immediately retaliating with attacks on the monster's jaws and with a powerful uppercut, leaving the beast stunned.

Now at a disadvantage, Hammerjaw was dragged by the Jaeger towards the ocean, stopping at the shoreline and being attacked again by The Prototype, who used a left hook and a straight right that landed hard, causing huge teeth to fall out of the Kaiju's mouth. The creature tried to fight back but to no avail, being thrown onto its back on the ground and suffering a violent ground-and-pound attack from the opponent.

Hammerjaw continued to be beaten on the ground until The Prototype raised its arms above its frame to deliver the final blow, which was prevented by a system failure that caused the Jaeger to completely shut down. With its opponent completely immobile on top of it, Hammerjaw immediately struck The Prototype's midsection, causing it to fall to the ground and scatter countless fragments of glass and metal, with the beach being covered in the fluid that dripped like black blood from its metallic body.

Although Hammerjaw continued its attack causing more damage to the Jaeger, it is known that the fight ended with the death of the Kaiju and the triumph of the Mark-1, although the details behind the ending of the event are not known.

Trivia

• Although the novelization of the first film mentions that Newton Geiszler has a Hammerjaw tattoo on the back of his calf, the Kaiju's design is the same as the tattoo on Newton's upper right arm.
• Initially, Travis Beacham cites that Hammerjaw attacked Cabo. He later amends his assertion when he is reminded of Kaiceph's mentioned attack in Tales From Year Zero.
• Despite being first mentioned in the novelization of the first film, Hammerjaw was only first shown in a sample Mechapedia page on Final Breach's Kickstarter, which removed the page without explanation after the goal was reached.
