Industrial Light & Magic (ILM) is an American Academy Award-winning motion picture visual effects company, and a division of Lucasfilm, that was founded in May 1975 by George Lucas. Industrial Light and Magic was responsible for the bulk of special and visual effects featured in the 2013 film Pacific Rim.

Industrial Light & Magic was created during the production of Lucas' science fiction film, Star Wars. They were established in Van Nuys, California before relocating to San Rafael in 1978. Since 2005, ILM has been based at Letterman Digital Arts Center in the Presidio of San Francisco.
Lynwen Brennan, who joined the company in 1999, currently serves as ILM's President and General Manager.[1] In 2012, The Walt Disney Company acquired ILM as part of its purchase of Lucasfilm.[2]
