Insurrector is a Kaiju that attacked Los Angeles on July 5, 2024.[1][2]
Biology[]
Insurrector is a quadrupedal Kaiju with dark gray skin and four eyes on each side of its head. The characteristic bioluminescent glow of Kaiju is emitted from behind its eyes, mouth, and numerous cracks in its skin.[4][3]
Its mouth is full of sharp teeth and it has a flat, wide, and irregular snout, with its chin having an upward-curving tip. Its head sports two enormous horns that curve backwards and smaller horns on the top of its head. The Kaiju's back has spike-like protrusions that run from its neck to the beginning of its thick tail, having a body supported by its hind legs and its long front limbs, which like some Kaiju have a hollow cavity in the forearm and end in enormous hands with thumbs and three more fingers, all with sharp claws.[4][3]
Insurrector does not appear to pursue humans, preferring to dedicate its efforts to destroying the infrastructure of cities, evident when it ignores the people on the pier and continues towards the city even under attack. In combat, it uses its massive arms to claw and strike at its opponents, and it also has hide that is tough enough to survive a barrage of Anti-Kaiju Missiles and continue fighting.[5]
History[]
Los Angeles Incident[]
Insurrector emerges from the Breach, heads to Los Angeles, United States, and changes course to Santa Monica, which had not been evacuated. Upon arriving, it stands over the Santa Monica Pier and crushes it in half, being immediately punched in the face by the American Mark-4 Hydra Corinthian.[4]
The Kaiju begins to strike with its hind limbs at the Mark-4, which blocks them with its forearms until the arrival of the Australian Mark-5 Striker Eureka. Insurrector is held by the horns by Hydra Corinthian and takes an uppercut from Striker Eureka, being knocked down shortly after.[4]
The creature gets up and manages to bring the fight to the city, being knocked into a building by a blow from Hydra, getting back up again and taking a volley of at least three Anti-Kaiju Missiles from Striker.[4][5]
In what appears to be one of the final moments of the fight, Insurrector is seen with one of his horns broken and being punched in the face by Striker while Hydra stands motionless and surrounded by smoke in the background. The Kaiju is eventually driven back to the Santa Monica Pier and finally killed by Striker Eureka.[1][5][6][note 1]
Aftermath[]
Among the causalities of its attack is the family of a five year old, Amara Namani, who is separated from them when Insurrector smashes the pier in half, collapsing the structure.[2][3]
Trivia[]
- The name of Insurrector's design in development was "Sporkhead".[7][8]
- Insurrector's movement was based on the Galápagos marine iguana.[7]
