"When he saw he realized he had noticed her before, working on Gipsy, moving on the giant mech like a high steel worker - as if she had the normal human fear of heights surgically removed."
—Nate Lambert watching Julia[4]

Julia[4] "Jules" Reyes is an officer in the Pan Pacific Defense Corps.

Biography[]

Early Life[]

Julia Reyes was born in Puerto Rico, and moved Acapulco when she was little. Julia may be the oldest of three siblings (a younger brother and two sisters).[4]

Pan Pacific Defense Corps[]

During the Kaiju Wars, her parents became J-Tech officers for the Panama Shatterdome, working on Puma Real. Julia later joins the PPDC as a mechanic and repairs the next generation Jaegers.[4]

She was aware of Jake Pentecost, and his expulsion from the PPDC by his father, Stacker Pentecost, at fifteen.[1], and his record for the longest Drift with Nathan Lambert.[5] At some point she becomes the supervisor of Jan Sokk.[4]

Pacific Rim Uprising: Ascension[]

When Jan Sokk goes missing, Ranger Nate Lambert goes to see Julia and asks if she's seen him. Julia says she hasn't and offers to take Nate to Sokk's sleeping quarters where his friend, Benny, is asleep.[4]

On the way there, the two flirt with each other. Julia divulges her past, and surprises Nate when she deduces that Nate was from California. At Sokk's quarters, Benny tells the two that he hasn't seen his friend, and assumed he went to Fuding. A concerned Julia gives Nate her number, and asks him to contact her whenever Sokk reappears.[4]

Julia investigated the issue with Chronos Berserker, looking into the malfunction that led to Cadet Braga and Vu's deaths in the Drift. She discovers the Conn-Pod was switched with a spare that wasn't completely functional.[6]

Julia goes to see Nate in his office with information from Mechspace on how the Mark-5 Jaeger Chronos Berserker was sabotaged.[7] She explains the data on the pen drive contained information on how the saboteurs altered Chronos Berserker's Conn-Pod without being spotted by surveillance. Before leaving his office, Julia asks Nate to meet her later so they could talk about modifying Gipsy Avenger.[7]

Following the arrest of the Akumagami Font member Ysabel Morales, Julia and the other J-Tech officers throw a party to celebrate the safe return of Gipsy Avenger and the prevention of the K-Bomb from detonating. Julia rescues a drunk Nate from the embarrassment of publicly airing his grievances with Joseph Burke, and leads him outside the Shatterdome.[6]

Nate thanks Julia for looking into the subject for Chronos Berserker. When she asks why he's upset, Nate explains that Burke is leaving the PPDC for the private sector. Julia is sympathetic to Burke's secrecy, recognizing Nate is a "true believer" of the PPDC. When Nate questions why his partners keep abandoning him, Julia reassures there's nothing wrong with him and the two kiss.[6]

Pacific Rim Uprising[]

When Jake Pentecost and Amara Namani arrive at the Moyulan Shatterdome, she decides to flirt with Jake in front Nate, and reminds Jake that he still holds the record for longest Drift.[5] Jake offers to tell her all about his time outside the PPDC, but Nate interjects and tells him that she'll be busy elsewhere. Julia farewells Jake and moves on.[1]

Later, as Liwen Shao's drone initiative is rolling out across the Pacific Rim, Julia is caught up in the Kaiju-Jaeger Hybrid attack on the Moyulan Shatterdome. As Titan Redeemer collapses, Julia saves Nate from being crushed. Once the Hybrids are killed with a feedback loop, Julia reports that most of their fleet was decimated by the drone hybrids, and Gipsy Avenger was barely operational.[1]

With the help of Amara and the cadets, Julia and the other J-Tech officers work quickly to repair Gipsy Avenger, Saber Athena, Bracer Phoenix, and Guardian Bravo. Before they leave, Julia wishes Nate and Jake good luck, kissing them both on the cheek. She observes the battle in MegaTokyo from the LOCCENT Mission Control Room.[1]
