Jumphawk pilot[1] is an occupation given to an officer assigned to a Strike Group.

Jumphawk pilots are an airborne fleet responsible for the highly dangerous deployment and extraction of a Jaeger into drop-zones when a Kaiju emerges from the Breach. Piloting the V-50 Jumphawk, Jumphawk pilots require both courage and protective instincts in order to adapt to the physical rigors of specialty vehicle operations and the necessity of entering drop zones to deploy Jaegers.
