Los Angeles[3][note 1], officially City of Los Angeles (or LA), is the most populous city in the U.S. state of California and the second-most populous in the United States after New York City. It was also the target of two major Kaiju attacks in 2017 and 2024.[2][1]
History[]
2017[]
In 2017, Los Angeles was attacked by the Category III Kaiju Yamarashi, prompting the Pan Pacific Defense Corps to deploy Gipsy Danger and another unnamed Jaeger to counter its rampage. When their partner's missile barrage failed to stop Yamarashi, Gipsy Danger engaged the Kaiju and forced it back through Long Beach.[1]
As the battle reached the Harbor Freeway, Gipsy Danger gained the advantage and used a cargo crane to behead Yamarashi. Shortly after its death, the Kaiju's body was removed from the city and reconstruction for a new cargo terminal began.[2][1]
2024[]
On July 5, 2024, Los Angeles was attacked a second time by the Kaiju Insurrector. The Defense Corps deployed Striker Eureka to intercept the Kaiju, who was able to kill it presumably with little trouble.[1][4]
