The Mondo Poster Series was an official San Diego Comic-Con 2013 project for Pacific Rim by Mondo, sanctioned by Guillermo del Toro and Legendary Pictures.[1]
History[]
Announced a week prior to the release of Guillermo del Toro's Pacific Rim, Entertainment Weekly exclusively reported that the posters, designed by artists Vania Zouravliov, Ash Thorp and Kevin Tong, would be available for sale at the Mondo Comic-Con booth from Wednesday to Sunday, July 17 through July 21, 2013.[1]
In an official statement, del Toro expressed his gratitude in working with the Mondo. "Mondo has always been instrumental in cementing world creation in pop culture — these posters by Ash Thorp and Kevin Tong and Vania Zouravliov capture perfectly the wild, gleeful spirit of Pacific Rim – here’s to a mad world of Mecha and Kaiju!!"[1]
Limited numbers were made available, with 350 of each Ash Thorp piece, 375 regular and 200 variant Kevin Tong posters and 145 of both the Vania Zouravliov variants.[2]
