Pacific Rim is an American science fiction television series created by Eric Heisserer for Prime Video. It is based on the Pacific Rim film franchise, while serving as a prequel to the 2013 inaugural film Pacific Rim.[1]

On August 19, 2025, Legendary Entertainment put an origin story for the Pacific Rim film franchise in the works at the indie studio from Eric Heisserer. It is part of a first-look deal Heisserer and Chronology, his recently launched production company with Carmen Lewis, have signed with Legendary to work on IP and related projects. “Eric is a multitalented, prolific creator whose track record of critical and commercial successes speaks for itself,” said Jason Clodfelter, President of Legendary Television. “We are thrilled to launch our partnership with Eric, Chronology, and Carmen, with a new entry in the epic, globally popular Pacific Rim universe.”[1] On April 17, 2025, a live-action Pacific Rim television series was announced to be in development at Amazon. Legendary will produce the series as the lead studio for Prime Video, with Amazon MGM Studios. The series marks the inaugural project out of Legendary’s first-look television deal with Oscar-nominated Heisserer and his Chronology banner. Heisserer will serve as writer and executive producer on the series.[2]
