Plasma Chainsaw

Plasma Chainsaws are dual weapons infused with plasma. They were the primary weapons of the Kaiju-Jaeger Hybrid Obsidian Fury, and later, the Mark-6 Jaeger Gipsy Avenger.

Mechanics[]

The twin chainsaws are located in the mounts on Obsidian Fury's wrists. Once deployed, plasma superheats the bladed edges. The Plasma Chainsaws are capable of cutting through the armor of a Jaeger without difficulty and can cut through the thick skin of a Kaiju like its fellow hybrid, the Mega-Kaiju.^[1]

History[]

Obsidian Fury used the Plasma Chainsaws to incapacitate Gipsy Avenger during its attack in Sydney. The dual weapons were able to counter the Mark-6's Chain Sword attacks effortlessly as it destroyed the city. Later in Siberia, Obsidian Fury's Plasma Chainsaws destroy Gipsy Avenger's Chain Sword. When the hybrid Jaeger attempted to breach the Gipsy Avenger's Conn-Pod with its Plasma Chainsaws, Gipsy Avenger was able to tear Obsidian Fury's power core out from its body.^[1]

Following its destruction, Shao Industries retrofitted Obsidian Fury's Plasma Chainsaws onto a repaired Gipsy Avenger. Using the dual chainsaws, Gipsy Avenger attempted to kill the Mega-Kaiju before it could commit suicide on Mount Fuji. It was only able to bisect large chunks of the Kaiju's body before the Mega-Kaiju destroyed both blades.^[1]
