The Saber Chain is a weapon used by the Mark-4 Jaeger Chaos Nemesis.
Mechanics[]
The chain is connected to the hand of the Jaeger; when not in use, it is housed inside the right arm of Chaos Nemesis. It is forged from Vanadium steel to pierce the durable hide of a Kaiju. When activated, the chain is deployed from the arm's chasis and delivers long-range melee attacks from the fist. It can also be used as a whip and sever limbs.
History[]
The chain was presumably the signature weapon of Chaos Nemesis, until the Jaeger was destroyed and left to waste in the Boneyard.
The Kaiju-Jaeger Hybrid called "Apex" pulls the arm of Chaos Nemesis and bestows it to Atlas Destroyer, which at the time was missing its right arm from Copperhead, as a parting gift. After equipping the arm to Atlas Destroyer, Loa informs Hayley and Taylor that the weapon they had just acquired belonged to the fallen Jaeger.[1]
In Clayton City, Atlas Destroyer launches the chain onto Copperhead's chest and reels back in, which rips a large section out. It then uses the chain to slice off Copperhead's left leg. Hunter Vertigo's nuke later penetrates the wound made by the chain, which kills the Kaiju.[2]
During Atlas Destroyer's final run to Sydney Base, the Saber Chain is used to kill an attacking Kaiju Eel. During the subsequent battle with Breacher, the Saber Chain proves to be useless against the Category VI Kaiju who ends up ripping the Jaeger's entire right arm off following Taylor's failed attack with the weapon.[3]
