Steven S. DeKnight is an American television screenwriter, television producer, and director. He is best known for being the creator, head writer and executive producer of the Starz series Spartacus, including Blood and Sand,[1] Gods of the Arena, Vengeance and War of the Damned. He currently the director of the 2018 sequel of Guillermo del Toro's Pacific Rim.[2]

Biography[]

Previously, DeKnight worked on Smallville, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and Angel. He also wrote "Swell", a story in the Buffy the Vampire Slayer season eight comic series, and served as a consulting producer on Joss Whedon's television series Dollhouse.

In May 2014, DeKnight took over showrunning duties on Marvel's Daredevil from Drew Goddard, after his departure due to scheduling conflicts with directing the cancelled Spider-Man film, Sinister Six.[3] In 2015, DeKnight joined the Transformers' franchise writers room.[4]
