Storm Garuda is a Mark-7[1] Jaeger featured in Pacific Rim: Shatterdome Strike.
History[]
The Jakarta Shatterdome is attacked and nearly destroyed by Ferno. Passengers make in time to launch the Storm Garuda from the structure before its destroyed.[2]
During the battle against Fenro, Storm Garuda is overpowered by the Kaiju. The arrival of Gipsy Avenger saves the Jaeger from certain destruction when Gipsy Avenger ambushes the Kaiju from behind. Taking advantage of the distraction Storm Garuda kills Ferno, slashing it with its Plasma Chainsaws.[2]
Damaged beyond repair, and unable to move on its own, Storm Garuda's pilots must eject from the Conn-Pod.
Features[]
Storm Garuda is equipped with Plasma Chainsaws on each arm, and one arm-mounted Plasma Caster on its left. The Jaeger is agile, and can move quickly in battle despite its size. Boosters on the backs of its legs allow Storm Garuda to jump for considerable distances or height.[2]
Trivia[]
- Storm Garuda's Plasma Chainsaws are orange in the promotional material for Shatterdome Strike. During the attraction, its weapons glow blue.
- Storm Garuda's name suggests reference to the Hindu diety Garuda, and Indonesia's National emblem.
- Storm Garuda's debut marks the first instance of Indonesia being mentioned at all in the franchise.
