An unlikely pathway of technological development in reality[]
It would have been more straightforward, to have just developed powerful railguns or hypersonic bunker-busting missiles with thermobaric or tactical nuke warheads to combat Kaiju, rather than gigantic square–cube law-defying Rock 'Em Sock 'Em Robots...
