The history of Hard House dates back as far as the early to mid 1980s in the United States, originating directly from dance itself. Noticible growth of Hard House in British and European spaces began in 1988. One of England's first and most notable Hard House songs was "Carino" by T-Coy, released in 1987. From there, the Hard House scene in Europe and America blended, European clubs hiring American DJ's to perform in the UK. Hard House music is publicly associated with raves and the consumption of ecstasy.
Russian Jaeger pilots Sasha and Aleksis Kaidonovsky listen to Ukrainian Hard House in the Hong Kong Shatterdome upon their arrival. The Wei Tang Brothers, Cheung, Hu and Jin, take immediate displeasure to the sound. During the Double Event, Tendo Choi can hear the music coming from the Conn-Pod of the Kaidonovskys' Jaeger, Cherno Alpha. Sasha and Aleksis take a particular dislike to those who consider their music "horrible" and suggest that the problem lies not with Ukrainian Hard House itself, but with the critic.
- On their facebook, the Luu Brothers uploaded an image of a deleted scene of the Wei Tang Brothers confronting Sasha and Aleksis. The deleted scene may have been the moment from the novelization.[note 1]
