Vulcan Specter is a Mark-3 Australian Jaeger. It is the first Australian Jaeger and the penultimate Mark-3 to be destroyed during the Kaiju War.
History
Santiago Incident
On December 12, 2021, Vulcan Specter is deployed to Santiago, Chile's capital, to face the Kaiju Fauxface.[4]
Most of the fight is unknown, but at the end of it the Jaeger scores its first kill by defeating the creature in physical combat and killing it with a well-aimed shot from its plasma cannon.[4]
Melbourne Incident
On January 31, 2022, Vulcan Specter is deployed alongside Striker Eureka to Melbourne, Australia, to face the Category IV Kaiju Spinejackal.[3][10]
During the fight, the Kaiju's panoramic vision proves a challenge for the pair of Australian Jaegers, but Vulcan eventually manages to drive the monster back into the ocean, where the Mark-3 strikes it, allowing Striker to hurl the blades of a wind turbine at the creature, ripping off half of its head.[10]
Medellin Incident
In December 2024, Vulcan Specter and Striker Eureka are deployed to Medellin, Colombia, to face the Kaiju Vermin.[7]
During the fight, much of the city is left in ruins and Striker suffers heavy damage, being knocked down and losing about half of his power. Meanwhile, the Kaiju tries to rip off Vulcan's Conn-Pod and eventually the Mark-3 manages to use its last remaining energy to kill the Kaiju before it shuts down completely, leaving Striker alone to deal with the swarm of parasites that have emerged from the creature's body.[7]
Breach of the Anti-Kaiju Wall
On December 27, 2024, just days after the fight in Medellin, the Category IV Kaiju Mutavore emerges from the Breach and manages to breach Sydney's Anti-Kaiju Wall in less than an hour. Vulcan is deployed without Striker, as the Mark-5 had been decommissioned the day before.[4]
The fight takes place off the city's coast and despite the efforts of its pilots, the Jaeger is knocked to the ground by Mutavore, who in a display of sheer strength and savagery rips the Conn-Pod completely from Vulcan's body[4] and begins to hammer the immobile body of the Mark-3, scrapping it entirely.[2]
Aftermath
The Jaeger's efforts in its fight against Mutavore gave time for Striker Eureka to be reactivated, finally managing to kill the creature after engaging it in solo combat.[11]
The wreckage of Vulcan Specter was taken on a barge to Oblivion Bay[2] and remained there for several years, until politicians around the world judged that only the most famous and important Jaegers in history should remain there, causing Vulcan and several others to be moved to the PPDC Scrapyard in Santa Monica.[4]
Features
Like all Mark-3 Jaegers, Vulcan Specter is powered by a nuclear reactor, which makes it resilient to EMP-based attacks.[12] It has two structures on its back that resemble the T-16 Angel Wings from Striker Eureka and appears to be quite durable, given that it is a hand-to-hand fighter and has wide shoulder pads and a ring around his neck possibly made to protect the pilots from attacks directed at the Conn-Pod.[4]
The Jaeger sports a type of knuckleduster on its fists to increase the power of its physical strikes[4] and has a weapon called "Atomic Drill", a large cone-shaped drill that when projected from his hand spins at high speed and can pierce even the skull of a Kaiju.[7]
Despite being a hand-to-hand fighter, Vulcan's right forearm is armed with a powerful plasma cannon[4] and its chest has at least two missiles, although they are weak and only serve to distract Kaiju.[10] The mix of melee and long-range weapons make Vulcan a very versatile Jaeger in combat.

Trivia

- A Conn-Pod very similar to Vulcan Specter's can be seen in Oblivion Bay during the first movie, though it is unknown whether this is just a coincidence or if its design was ready since the movie's release.
